Post-Hurricane quilt project is finished

Hope everyone is doing okay after hurricane Florence.  We stayed with our brother for about 9 nights. Mary and I both brought handwork to do at our brother’s house but we didn’t even open the boxes. LOL  Watching all the weather news was stressful.  We had a few minor damages to repair from the hurricane and we feel very lucky compared to other people in the area.  Some of our flowers and trees are blooming again – I think they are confused.  It is suppose to be fall.

image.jpegLast week I decided to finish a lap/throw quilt for one of my sons before I started daily radiation treatments later this month.  I heard that fatigue is a side effect of the radiation so I am working on some quilting projects for the next 2 weeks to see what I can get done.

My son’s quilt is an easy pattern called “Parallel Universe” – strip club pattern by Cozy Quilt Designs. The pattern has finished sizes from table runner to king.

I decided to piece the backing with some left over blocks from the front and some NYC metro fabric since my son had lived in NYC. I only added a narrow border and then the binding.  The pattern called for 3 borders. The finished size of this quilt is about 68″ x 58″.

Keep having fun sewing and quilting.    Donna

  2. I hope you don’t experience fatigue from the radiation. Love your quilt. Your do beautiful work. I am happy that you and Mary weathered the storm with minor damage. Hurricane season is always stressful for me.
I look forward to your email to see what you all are doing. It keeps me motivated. Unfortunately, I don’t get to quilt as much. I had to go to work again. I am selling real estate along the Alabama Gulf Coast. If you want property on the gulf coast I can help you find the perfect real estate.

  3. Corkscot is glad that you did not suffer much damage. It can be devastating. We have lived through too many hurricanes. We send our best wishes fore you to have an uneventful and safe radiation experience. Our thoughts are with you.
