Quilts for flood victims of Hurricane Matthew

matthew-charity-quiltsWe were very lucky when the hurricane came through our area.  We did get 9 – 10″ of rain and high winds (75 mph) but only lost power for about 12 hours during the night.  We did not have any flooding in our neighborhood.  The flooding in other areas of southeastern North Carolina has been unbelievable – to see whole towns underwater and rivers are still flooding houses and roads.

Our local fire station was collecting food, water, and blankets for the flood victims.  So Mary and I dropped off food, water, and four quilts that we finished making this past week.  The recovery from this hurricane will take a long time for the people who have lost everything.

Hope you were safe during the hurricane.  Keep sewing and quilting.  Donna

  1. I was wondering if you were okay. Glad to hear you are dry. It is terrible to see how many people were affected by the flooding. One person is too many.
