Quilting during Hurricane Matthew

imageHurricane Matthew update: We are getting lots of rain and wind and had some tornado warnings earlier in the day.  Now we have a thunderstorm – hopefully we won’t lose power.  But we are ready with our supplies and water.  We have been watching the weather channel while we complete some quilting projects.  I worked on a quilt square for a modern quilt block challenge with our local guild.  Each month we get a 2.5″ strip of a solid color.  Using this strip, the challenge is to make a 12.5″  modern block quilt square.  At the next meeting, we will draw a name from those participating in the challenge to “win” the finished blocks.  The winner will put the blocks together for a charity quilt that we will donate to a local charity or another charity that our guild picks.  October is the start of our block challenge.  I found a Scrappy Asterisk block tutorial to use for my October block.  I made strips with the blue challenge fabric and other blue print fabric to use in the block.  Stay safe and keep having fun sewing and quilting.  Donna

  1. I like the feather block. I don’t know what the first one looked like but the second one looks great. I thought about you all when I saw the hurricane coming your way. Sounds like you all are okay.
