Class project from Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival

image         Mary and I took an appliqué class with our friend Barb at the Mid-Atlantic quilt festival in Hampton, VA.  The class kit included hand dyed fabric from the instructor (Laura Wasilowski).  Laura is a great instructor – very informative and entertaining (she loves to make up songs about quilting and fusing) The project was a small circle quilt – about 15 inches in diameter.  We put misty fuse on the back of our hand dyed fabric.  imageThen we “free- cut” our fabric using scissors and rotary cutters with specialty blades.  What fun we had creating our designs.  I made a circle quilt with a lighthouse on an island. I have started to add some hand stitching to my piece.  Once I finish the handwork, I will add machine quilting.

Keep having fun sewing and quilting.  Donna
