3 – D art quilt fabric bowls

image        A quilting friend made a 3-D fabric bowl using one of the Row by Row patterns from this year.  I was inspired to try one too.   The theme of the first bowl is the 4 seasons.  I made a confetti background using misty fuse and then added the trees and leaves.  I have a box with pre-fused scraps which I used for the project.    image I used free motion quilting for the center circle of the bowl and then straight line quilting with the walking foot.  It was fun to make.  So I tried making a second bowl without the confetti background and used one fabric for the background (sky color).          imageThe second bowl was inspired by my Row by Row pattern last year – vacation houses at the beach.  Lots of fun to make – deciding the fabric for the houses and the palm trees.  Both bowls used canvas in the center to stiffen the bowl.

Keep having fun sewing and quilting.  Donna   image

  1. The bowl is beautiful. I’ve made several rows of beach houses and trees. The were paper pieced. I haven’t attached the rows together. Everything has been on hold since the new Scottie arrived over a year ago. She gets into too much trouble when she can’t see me.
