Donna’s Hoffman challenge quilt – Honoring Nepal

image          This quilt was my first Hoffman challenge.  I used lots of the focus fabric for the elephant.  I used a collage technique for the elephant.  I was inspired by Susan Carlson’ s book – Serendipity Quilts (Cutting Loose Fabric Collage). image It’s a fun technique using fabric scraps and glue.  I liked the landscape designs by Karen Eckmeier (Accidental Landscapes) so I used this technique for most of the background.  I added Angelina fibers for the snow on the mountains.

Since my future daughter-in-law is from Nepal, I decided to make the background represent the landscape of Nepal.  I made pieced borders from the Hoffman fabric for the top and bottom borders.   Keep having fun sewing and quilting.  Donna   image
