Heart Tote bag for a kids’ sewing class

image        This tote bag was the second sewing class for a group of 4 kids (2nd to 6th grade).  This project built on some skills that they practiced in the first class: stitching straight lines and zigzag stitching.   The kids sewed the black and white strips together – good practice for stitching straight lines.  Next they attached the lining to strip set and used the zigzag stitch to finish the edges.  A heart shape with fusible was attached to the front of the bag and they used red thread to stitch around the heart.  After adding handles, they finished the bag.  They did a great job.   Keep having fun sewing and quilting.  Donna
