Build – A – Bug pattern by Whistlepig Creek Productions

Mary and I had fun building bug wallhangings using scraps of fabric and our button stash.  You can mix and match parts to create your own special creature.  We made small wallhangings – about 14″ by 17″.  The pattern has directions to make a soft book with velcro parts to interchange and make new bugs.  It also has directions to make a soft doll and a 30″ by 30″ wallhanging (larger than the wallhangings that we made).

Mary and I choose the striped border first and then used the colors in the border for the bug parts.  I did not quilt my mini-wallhanging before I fused on the bug body and parts. Mary quilted her background first before adding the fused parts.  I think it is easier quilt first.  After I quilted my background, I needed to add some quilting to the bug body to make everything lay flat.  Keep having fun creating and quilting.
