Candy Cane paper pieced star table topper

DSCN7934             I was looking to try a new binding technique on a small project.  I found this paper pieced star on a blog.  There were only 4 pieces to each paper pieced block (Rocky Road to Kansas quilt block).  Four blocks are needed to make the star table topper (about 18″ square).  I made a scrappy strip about 6″ wide to used as one of the star points in each block to get a more scrappy look to the block.  I used the bias binder attachment to add the red inner border to the binding and then stitched the binding to the star block.  It was a fun and easy block.  Love these little projects.  Keep sewing and crafting.  Donna
